About the Consortium

We are a group of researchers and policy-makers from Tanzania, Uganda, and Europe (Norway, Spain, UK) who have begun a strong collaboration based on an ongoing collaboration between NIMR in Tanzania, the UVRI/MRC/LSTHM in Uganda and LSTM.

Our vision is to improve the health outcomes of people with chronic life-long conditions in sub-Saharan Africa through research. Our focus is particularly on the prevention and management of HIV-infection, diabetes and hypertension.

Our aim is to create a collegial environment that is able to attract and retain staff in this new research area. We defined the initial research questions together and have conducted early phase studies (MOCCA study) that informed the design of INTE-AFRICA and can inform future large-scale research studies.

INTE-AFRICA is designed to generate policy-relevant data to inform policy and practice in other sub-Saharan African countries and contexts.
