LSTM is an international centre of excellence in research in low-resource settings, in teaching and in the provision of technical assistance. LSTM has been at the forefront of infectious disease research, continuing to contribute to the development of new drugs, vaccines and pesticides in state-of-the-art facilities. It has strong infrastructure in research methods, particularly epidemiology, medical statistics and health economics, as well as strong links with health institutions across Africa.

As project coordinator, LSTM will lead the work project on management and evaluation of effectiveness, including cost-effectiveness of integrated care compared with standard care.
